Joan Bakewell, the Thinkige Man's crumpet or so they said when they didn't realise that was offensive
Love JB, but I think she's selling her generation a bit short here. They achieved some real progress in the 60s and 70s.
She seems to be expressing from a left-leaning perspective the sentiment commonly heard on the political Right: "Life was better when I was 25." To which the only reasonable response is: "Well, duh!"
To quote Grandpa Simpson: "I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!"
