    1. haha! yes I have to say I am pretty pro the middle classes - but then I have to be, being MC through and through! still a world run by teachers, librarians, care workers, doctors, therapists, urban planners, conservationists, etc seems preferable to the existing arrangement.

      he's right though about this funny mutual admiration / affinity between the toffs and the plebs. similar attitude to money. attraction to same vices e.g. a flutter on the gee-gees.

      whereas the MC is where the providential and (in all ways you care to think of) continent, reformers and temperance minded come from...

    2. No just any upper class but the "the real upper class". Proper toffs like we used to have in the good old days. There are lots of the upper class who fund their stately homes with guided tours and organic jam - which MES would no doubt loathe.
